The New England Patriots have released KR/RB Leon Washington today. Washington is a strong return man on special teams and could immediately help out a team in need of a boost in that department. He is a good receiver out of the backfield also and should draw a lot of interest around the league. He couldn’t cut the Patriots roster, but there are other teams that can find a good use for Washington’s skill set.

He can help in punt returns and in kickoff returns. He has 8 kickoff returns for touchdowns in his career. Someone will want a new kickoff returner on their roster. He will have on some new colors soon.

Interesting, very interesting… Wonder what cutting goodman would look like on paper now that the deadline for cuts has happened….

A little surprising but Leon is getting older and no longer has the speed he had before the broken leg. Not sure there are any teams who don’t already have someone as good or better though. This may be the end of the line for Washington.

Interesting take… Didn’t know that he may have lost a step. We shall see if someone gives him a shot this late in the offseason
