The New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes will be active for Sunday’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Holmes has been missing practice for the foot injury, but he is now expected to play. He will be listed as questionable, but should see some action.
Even Holmes plays, it will be in a limited role. The number of snaps he sees in the game are unknown, but a guess around 30 sounds about right. To make matters worse for Holmes, former teammate Darrell Revis will be covering him. It could be a long day for Homes considering the injury, and the match-up with Revis.
The New York Jets are also expected to start quarterback Geno Smith. Smith, a rookie from WVU, has struggled in the pre-season and is inexperienced. The quarterback situation is a mess in New York, and this only makes things worse for Holmes. Jets fans should prepare for a brutal year. As for Santonio Holmes, a down year very well could be coming.
