The San Diego Chargers and the Houston Texans will play the final game of opening week. J.J. Watt will look to continue on his defensive player of the year season and Philip Rivers will be looking to turn things around.

The reigning defensive player of the year is looking to make an impact without a few of his friends on his side. Antonio Smith is suspended for the game and Ed Reed will be likely sidelined for the game. Watt still can make an impact without those other guys on the field.

Chargers Player to Watch: Ryan Mathews

Philip Rivers would be the natural choice for this selection, but if the Chargers want to pull off the win in this game, they will need to establish a good running game with Ryan Mathews. If they can get Mathews rolling, then Philip can get a little more comfort in the pocket.

Watt is going to line up against the Chargers top rookie selection in the offseason and he will also line up against Jeromey Clary, a converted right tackle over at right guard. The Chargers better be prepared for Watt.

Prediction

The Texans are definitely the favorite to win this game, but this is a game that the Chargers can steal. Some key players are out or just returning for the Texans and the Chargers have a new offensive system.
