New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez will likely have surgery for his shoulder. He has a labral tear on his throwing shoulder:

It looks like Geno Smith will be starting for the Jets for a good amount of time. He will be running the show for the Jets and he won’t have to look over his shoulder for Mark. The Jets did sign Brady Quinn onto the roster, but he will likely be the backup.

Geno Smith won his first start in his career. He threw for 256 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

The season for Mark Sanchez appears to be over. He likely would have been riding the bench anyway behind Geno Smith. Might as well get that shoulder repaired now and he can prepare to fight for a job next season. Might not be with the New York Jets.
