Indianapolis Colts RB Vick Ballard could be out for the season. He suffered an injury in practice and could have ligament damage. Here is the report from NFL.com:
Starting running back Vick Ballard suffered a freak injury at practice Friday, a source tells NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. He’s having tests for a ligament injury, which could end his season. Ballard, who led the Colts running backs with 966 yards from scrimmage as a rookie last year, rushed for 63 yards on only 13 carries in the season opener.
That Ahmad Bradshaw signing in the offseason is HUGE now. Bradshaw will take over any carries that Ballard would have had and will carry most of the weight at the position. He will get the bulk of the carries.
Ballard was placed on injured reserve and will miss the rest of the season. Sucks to lose a player to an injury during practice. It wasn’t even during a game! The Colts will have to move on. Hopefully Bradshaw will be able to help protect Andrew Luck in the pocket as well.
