Tampa Bay Buccaneers S Dashon Goldson has been suspended for one game for his hit on Darren Sproles. Goldson has played well with the Bucs and will be missed this weekend against the New England Patriots.
Merton Hanks told Goldson in a letter: “It is clear you lowered your head & unnecessarily rammed your helmet into your opponent’s head”
Goldson has drawn 15 personal fouls since 2010, more than any other player in the league. Hitting hard and illegally seems to be part of his game. He is putting some players in danger when he lowers his head.
After a certain amount of personal fouls, players should face a suspension. There needs to be harsh penalties for players that continue to break the rules. Goldson obviously has a history of personal fouls and he deserves a suspension until he can play under the rules.
This is part of the reason that Goldson was brought over to the Buccaneers for and he is making his presence felt. Too bad it means that he will miss out on some games.
