Mario Williams signed with the Buffalo Bills last offseason with a 6-year, $100 million deal. The fans in Buffalo were excited to have a game changer on their defense and couldn’t wait to see him get on the field. All that anticipation went for nothing though, since Williams didn’t have the breakout performance that the fans were expecting. Even with 10.5 sacks last season, he didn’t stand up to that $100 million deal.
Yesterday, he broke out and showed fans why the team trusted in him. Yesterday he picked up 4.5 sacks to set the team record. The Bills faced off against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers and all those sacks helped the team to a 1-point victory.
“I guess I am late,” said Williams, who signed a six-year, $100 million contract with the Bills before last season.
“I don’t think I’ve felt this way in the last five years,” Williams said. “I finally feel like I am at peace, just as a person.” - ESPN
