Brandon Marshall was asked who the hardest hitting safety in the league was and he gave his respect to Minnesota Vikings SS Harrison Smith:

There are a few hard hitting guys out there, but Smith takes the cake for Marshall. Marshall knows a lot about Smith, he gets to face him a couple of times a year in the NFC North.

That definitely is an honor to be called the hardest hitting safety. There are other guys around the league that can lay the wood also. Some of those guys get a ton of personal fouls for illegal hits also. We don’t hear Smith mentioned in those illegal hits like Dashon Goldson or Bernard Pollard.

Who would you think is the hardest hitting safety in the league?
