The Cleveland Browns have decided to start 3rd string quarterback Brian Hoyer over Jason Campbell for this weekend’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Starting quarterback Brandon Weeden will miss the start with a sprained right thumb that he suffered last week.
It is surprising that Coach Rob Chudzinski decided to start Hoyer over a more experienced Jason Campbell. Campbell came in for one series against the Baltimore Ravens after Weeded injured his thumb and has 71 career starts under his belt.
Weeden could be out for a couple of weeks, but there still has not been any official word on the timetable for his return. He has been sacked 11 times already this season, so it must be nice to sit on the sideline away from harm for a little bit.
Hoyer has one career start with the Arizona Cardinals. He also spent 3 seasons behind Tom Brady in New England.
