LeSean McCoy says he’s fine

Philadelphia Eagles star running back LeSean McCoy is having the enormous season in Chip Kelly’s offense that most of us hoped for, and he already has 414 yards of total offense on the season after another incredible day last night. McCoy destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs defense on Thursday Night Football, as he ran for 158 yards on 20 carries with his second rushing touchdown of the game. However, McCoy also sprained his right ankle.

The great news is that not only is McCoy’s ankle sprain not a high-ankle sprain, but he has also stated that he feels “fine”. Here’s what LeSean McCoy said, via the Philadelphia Daily News’s Les Bowen, “When it happened, the way I landed, I felt pain right away. I couldn’t press on it,” McCoy said after the Eagles’ eighth home loss in a row. “I had that type of injury before; that’s why I thought it was something serious … The X-rays looked good; they didn’t see anything on there. I still was in pain. A couple of runs, I could feel it … I’ll get treatment on it and I’ll be fine.”

That’s certainly great to hear, and Shady has a long week to heal up before the Eagles big game against the Denver Broncos. I would be extremely surprised if McCoy ends up missing any games, but stranger things have happened than a setback on a “minor” ankle sprain or something of that nature. McCoy’s injury seems to be incredibly minor, and it sounds like McCoy barely even felt the sprain.
