San Francisco 49ers star tight end Vernon Davis is set to square off against his younger brother Vontae Davis on Sunday, as the 49ers will be facing the Indianapolis Colts. However, Davis is listed questionable with a hamstring injury, and Davis was not able to practice yesterday. His status is in doubt, and that’s a shame since it would be very interesting to see him lined up against younger brother Vontae on the outside. The 49ers like to split Vernon Davis out wide at times, so that would be been a nice storyline.

Davis was asked about his Week 3 status and stated that he feels “pretty good”, but he was noncommittal overall and vaguely stated” we shall see”. Via the Sacramento Bee,  “I’m feeling pretty good, sore, bruised up, but that comes with the business, comes with the game. Definitely my focus is on this game. .. We shall see when Sunday comes.”

The Niners starting TE was the only player on the team to miss practice yesterday, and his status is definitely up-in-the-air. Davis is a game-time decision, and 49ers backup tight end Vance McDonald is also a game-time decision. However, McDonald has a better chance at playing than Davis, and I think we’ll see McDonald on the field against the Colts. While Davis would be at an advantage with Indianapolis Colts safety LaRon Landry ruled out, it appears that there is more of a chance of Davis being out this week.
