Panthers QB Cam Newton Fined By League

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton was fined $10,000 on Friday for using Under Armour visor clips. FOR VISOR CLIPS!

The league has a strict policy about their uniform though and the league finally has figured out that Cam was sporting visor clips from his sponsor. I am sure that Under Armor loves this exposure right now.

The violation was revealed in a Forbes article on Tuesday and the league did not notice until the article came out. Maybe the league should hire the writers at Forbes to look over everyone’s equipment.

There are other players around the league that have sported the clips including Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor, 49ers S Eric Reid and Browns WR Josh Gordon. I wonder if those guys should expect a big time fine coming in their direction soon. They better watch their wallets. It might be best to put those clips away and save that extra money in their pocket books.

Maybe Under Armour will give them a little bit more on that sponsorship to keep wearing them.

What happened to the 15 or 20 other guys who wore an under armour plastic face mask? I do not think Cam put it on his helmet on purpose, nor do I think he actually put in on his helmet. I can understand the league requesting that they be removed, but I think its stupid to penalize a player for an obvious equipment mistake.
