Rams S T.J. McDonald Placed On IR/Designation To Return


The St. Louis Rams lost S T.J. McDonald for at least half of the seaon with a broken leg. McDonald will not need surgery on his leg, but will need some time to recover. He will be placed on IR with the designation to return. He will be allowed to return in 8 weeks.

S Matt Giordano will likely step up to be the starter for the Rams with McDonald on the sideline in street clothes.

McDonald was carted off of the field with 10 minutes left to go in the third quarter against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night. McDonald is a rookie 3rd round pick out of USC and appeared to get injured when he ran into DE Gerald Rivers at the end of a 3-yard run by Frank Gore.
