Jets QB Mark Sanchez Decides To Have Season Ending Surgery

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez has decided to hang up the cleats for this season and elected to go forward with season ending shoulder surgery. He was attempting rehab, bu decided to go forward with surgery that will require 4 to 6 months of recovery.

The Jets placed him on the IR list with the designation to return, but that seems like a wasted designation for the team. Sanchez will be out for the season.

The Jets have stuck by their selection of Geno Smith as the starting quarterback and even if Sanchez were to return, he likely would come back as a backup on the team.

Sanchez will get a chance to fully recover and come back next year strong. I don’t know what his status will be with the Jets, but he likely will be looking for a backup job for some team somewhere. Someone could give him a chance or he can just disappear with the likes of Matt Leinart.
