There is talk that the thumb injury for Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews‘ thumb injury could be a season ender. Matthews is going to check in with doctors this week to see if he needs surgery on the thumb and if he needs to get operated on, then he will likely have to end his season.
Otherwise, Matthews would play games with a club on his hand to protect the injury.
I don’t see many players going down for a season ending thumb injury unless it was suffered toward the end of the season. I can’t see Matthews going out because of the injury and expect him to be back on the field with a club on his hand and making plays.
Matthews has played in 4 games this season and has 18 tackles this season and 3 sacks. The Packers would be hurting on defense without having one of the top defenders in the lineup. Just put a club over it and beat some quarterbacks in.
