Former Miami Dolphins star center Dwight Stephenson is in the Hall of Fame, so he certainly knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a great center in this league. Not only does Stephenson believe that the current Miami Dolphins starting center, Mike Pouncey, is a great player, but he also thinks that Pouncey could very well be the best center in the league right now.

From the Finsiders’s Sean Grimm, “I’ll tell you, that center position is in good hands with Pouncey. He has all the physical tools, as well as the mental tools to get the job done. I can say that position is in good hands.

“Of the guys that are playing the position now, I don’t know if anyone out there is better than Pouncey right now. I really don’t.”

The Dolphins offensive line has allowed Ryan Tannehill to be sacked far too many times this year, but you can’t blame Mike Pouncey for those struggles. Although he had an awful game against the Baltimore Ravens last week, Pouncey has been solid this season and is easily one of the  top ten centers in the league. While I could name a few centers who are better than Pouncey (Chris Myers and Nick Mangold certainly come to mind), Stephenson’s point is well taken; Pouncey is great player and one of the league’s finest centers.
