With the Falcon’s home loss to the Jets in the waining seconds (Yes, those Jets), Atlanta is now at a dismal 1-4. Tis season I’ll admit the Falcons have had a pretty hard schedule with the Saints, Pats, and Dolphins. However, they should not have lost such games had their defense actually showed up to play. The Falcons pass D this season has been lack-luster at best, allowing a salty 274.8 passing yards per game (ranked 23rd in the league), not to mention a horrendous 26.8 points per game as well. For an offense that has been playing usually lights out with Matt Ryan throwing for 1,649 yards and 10 TDs, this defense hasn’t been playing up to Championship caliber at all. Now with all-pro receiver Julio Jones out for the season and a running game that has been catching more passes than than running for yards, the Falcons are in big trouble. This BYE week should give this Falcons time to really regroup and understand exactly where they have gone wrong. Their next upcoming weeks have the Falcons playing the tenacious defenses of the Panthers, Seahawks, and Buccaneers. Doesn’t look good folks.
