New York Giants star DE Jason Pierre-Paul is slowly but surely getting himself back into top form following offseason back surgeries, and his run defense has- once again- been a beauty to behold. He has just one sack this season, but that number should steadily start to rise as the season moves forward. JPP’s run defense will be especially important this week against the Minnesota Vikings, because it’s all about stopping Adrian Peterson.
He’ll have an interesting matchup going against Vikings second-year left tackle Matt Kalil, and both players are hobbled going into today’s game. Kalil is listed questionable after not practicing the past two days with back tightness, and the Giants have listed Pierre-Paul questionable after not practicing on Friday or Saturday with an illness.
Pierre-Paul seemed to contract the illness on Thursday, and I would be surprised if he missed this week’s game despite the questionable listing. An illness isn’t going to keep a star player like Jason Pierre-Paul out of a Monday Night Football game, especially when this Giants team is still searching for its first win this year. He will be a game-time decision for tomorrow’s game, so all eyes should be closely peeled on his status.
