The New England Patriots plan on signing DE Andre Carter today to help fill some depth on their defensive line. Carter spent the 2011 season with the Patriots and had one of his best seasons of his career with the team. He played 14 games and had 10 sacks in that season.
He then signed with the Oakland Raiders in the following season and did not have the same type of impact. He played in 12 games, but did not start any and had 2.5 sacks on the season. He is back in New England now and should get his chances to chase after quarterbacks again.
This will be his 13th season in the league. He has played in 175 games in his career and has racked up 78.5 sacks during that time. He wants to chase after the quarterback. That is what he does best. Let’s see if he still has anything left in that tank to get after them.
The Patriots will face off against the Miami Dolphins and their terrible offensive line next. That would be a nice spot for Carter to get his first sack this season. They just traded for Bryant McKinnie, but he likely is already out at the clubs in South Beach.
