Saints Waive LB Martez Wilson To Add A Quarterback

The New Orleans Saints made a bit of a surprising move today be releasing LB Martez Wilson in order to make room for QB Ryan Griffin. Wilson has shown potential with the Saints, but they could not figure out what role to use him in. He has a ton of athleticism and can play either outside or inside at the linebacker position and likely will be on a roster before the end of the week.

Wilson was selected by the Saints in the 3rd round in 2011 out of Illinois. In his 3 seasons with the Saints, he has racked up 26 tackles and 5 sacks.

Someone will give him a shot. Just because he wasn’t a fit with the Saints, doesn’t mean that he couldn’t work with some other roster. He is athletic and long and can make things happen. He will get an opportunity to play somewhere. Once he gets that chance, he may be able to shine.
