Dallas Cowboys

Out

S J.J. Wilcox (knee)- Sadly, the promising rookie safety sprained his MCL at Thursday’s practice, and the Cowboys were thus forced to promote Jakar Hamilton from the practice squad. Hamilton is just depth, and we should only expect to see him out there on special teams plays.

LB DeVonte Holloman (neck)

Doubtful

DE DeMarcus Ware (thigh)- The best and most important player on the Cowboys defense, Ware made himself a game-time decision for last week’s game. There was no doubt that he would be out, though, but his toughness and determination was seen in his desire to play. Ware suffered the quadriceps injury in Week 6, and the Cowboys have, thankfully, decided to take things slow with Ware. They already lost Anthony Spencer this year and cannot afford to lose their superstar pass rusher; they need him for the long haul and the risk of a setback is too severe. Ware, by the way, did not practice this week.

Questionable

RB DeMarco Murray (knee)- It’s fair to wonder if DeMarco Murray is feeling organizational pressure regarding his susceptibility to injuries, because he is really stretching his recovery from Week 6’s MCL sprain. Murray is expected to play today against the Lions, which means he will have only missed one week with the injury. That’s like Fred Jackson toughness right there.

WR Miles Austin (hamstring)- I doubt he plays this week, and the Cowboys are just shutting the guy down at this point. He practiced just once this week (Friday), and the Cowboys are expected to sit Austin out this week in the hopes that he can finally return to health. Hamstring issues have always hurt Austin in his career, and he hasn’t had a reception since his most recent hamstring issue that occurred in late September. So yeah, he’s gone catch-less for over a month due to either missing games or being too ineffective to do anything of note.

Probable

RB Lance Dunbar (hamstring)- I think it would be wise for the Cowboys to limit Murray’s carries a bit, so it will be interesting to see if Dunbar or Joseph Randle gets the majority of the carries behind Murray.

DE George Selvie (shoulder)

DT Jason Hatcher (neck)

WR Dwayne Harris (hip)

CB Morris Claiborne (illness)

DT Nick Hayden (back)

WR Dez Bryant (hamstring)- Like fellow superstar WR Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant was given a day of rest on Wednesday and is a 100% go today.

G Ronald Leary (knee)
