Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Roddy White hasn’t played since Week 5, but head coach Mike Smith was hopeful yesterday that team doctors would clear White to practice today. White hasn’t practice in an awfully long time, and he needed to practice today in order to have even a shot at playing in this week’s big NFC South matchup against the Carolina Panthers. ESPN NFL Nation’s Vaughn McClure reports that White is indeed back at Falcons practice today, and he included a picture of White running a route.
Even though he is finally back on the practice field for today’s session- the final session of the week- it is still unclear as to whether or not Roddy White will be able to suit up and play against an intriguing Panthers squad. For the first time in a while, the Falcons are coming into the game as the underdogs, so we’ll see if the Falcons are more inclined to push White into playing.
Hamstring and ankle injuries have plagued White throughout the 2013 season, and the Falcons bad luck with injuries has definitely been seen in White’s struggles with the injury bug. Hopefully he can play this week, but you would hate to see him suffer another setback and make things even worse for the Falcons. White is one of the toughest players in the league, though, so I am optimistic that he can play after being a game-time decision and not suffer a setback.
