Thad Lewis decision will be made today

Buffalo Bills interim starting quarterback of choice, Thad Lewis, seems questionable to play in this week’s big home game against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, but I don’t expect his rib injury or illness to keep him out of this week’s game. While Lewis’s status is certainly up in the air, I would think that the Bills would much rather start Lewis over UDFA rookie Jeff Tuel and disappointing backup QB Matt Flynn. Lewis has been the Bills starting QB of choice since E.J. Manuel went down with a knee injury in Week 5. Although Lewis has had some ups-and-downs, he’s been serviceable in his three starts, and he seems set to make a fourth start despite the rib injury.

According to the Bills official Twitter account, head coach Doug Marrone said that he will make his decision on whether Thad Lewis is health enough to start over Tuel- and Flynn could potentially be in the mix, too- today. It seems to me that Lewis will have to practice today in order to face the Chiefs on Sunday, and that would definitely be far from ideal.

It seems like the Bills are going to be all-hands-on-deck in the hopes of an upset against the Chiefs, and it was reported earlier this week by Pro Football Talk that Lewis is expected to start. I don’t think we should deviate from that expectation, but we should also definitely keep a close eye out on Lewis’s practice status today.
