New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan made the normally-excellent Dallas Cowboys offense look pathetic in the Saints huge 49-17 Sunday Night Football victory. Ryan deserves an incredible amount of praise for the gameplan he put together against his old team, as he extracted pure revenge against Jerry Jones and the franchise that he felt unjustly fired him. Even Jones admitted after the game that he shouldn’t have fired Ryan, which certainly doesn’t sound like a vote of confidence for Tampa 2 extraordinaire Monte Kiffin.

Ryan did an amazing job of shutting down Dez Bryant, whose back injury is most likely more severe than anybody within the Cowboys organization is willing to let on. But still, he did a great job of double-covering Bryant and sending complex coverages at him that Romo simply wasn’t going to test. Bryant was well-covered all game by Keenan Lewis and the rest of the Saints secondary, as Bryant was only targeted twice. His one catch did go for 44 yards, though that was the lone hiccup for the Saints.

It was a terrific performance in front of a national audience in which Rob Ryan and the New Orleans Saints offense and defense flexed their intellectual and physical dominance over the Cowboys. Revenge and victory are two sweet things, and drinking beer with your fan base must also be pretty sweet.

A Saints fan tweeted a picture of Rob Ryan drinking with other fans and tweeted that Ryan bought a drink for her. That’s classy, awesome, and so Ryan-like (Buddy and Rex included, but especially Rex) overall. Below is the embedded tweet, and here is a major hat tip to Deadspin’s Tom Ley, with a second degree hat tip to Drew Magary.
