Tennessee Titans hosting John Skelton again

The Tennessee Titans are in the market for a backup quarterback, because they are currently rolling with Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter and Rusty Smith as the No. 2 following Jake Locker’s season-ending Lisfranc injury. If something were to happen to Fitzpatrick, the Titans would probably be a walking disaster with Smith at the helm. Therefore, it makes a ton of sense for the Titans to work out quarterbacks and sign another backup to add to the mix, and John Skelton appears to be the Titans favorite option.

According to the Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt, Skelton is visiting with the Titans today, and this constitutes his second visit with the Titans this season. That leads Wyatt to believe that the Titans will sign Skelton, and that definitely seems like the most likely scenario. It’s unlikely that the Titans will want to move forward with Smith as the only backup, because is the opposite of “safe”.

Despite his struggles with the Arizona Cardinals over the past couple of years, John Skelton has received plenty of workouts this season. Ever since the San Francisco 49ers cut ties with him as a backup in October, Skelton has received workouts from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers, and now he’s received a call-back from the Tennessee Titans. Keep a close eye on this one, because early indications are that Skelton will have another job sooner rather than later.
