Mike Tomlin Has A Supporter in Bill Belichick

Mike Tomlin was caught standing on the field on Thursday Night against the Baltimore Ravens and interfered with the action on a kick return from Jacoby Jones. Ravens KR Jacoby Jones was taking back the kickoff and had a couple of defenders to beat in order to get the score and Tomlin got into his path down the sideline and was not penalized on the play.

Bill Belichick says that it is something that could happen to anyone:

“Obviously we have to give the officials and the players room to play,” Belichick said in comments distributed by the team. “Sometimes that just happens where you get guys caught up a little bit on the sideline. But yeah, I saw the play last night. I was like, ‘Oh my God, yeah.’ That could easily happen to any of us. It’s a good lesson, I have to be careful.”

So it could happen to anyone, but that doesn’t explain why he wasn’t penalized on the play.

Is it strange that his only supporter in Bill Belichick though? Just saying.
