After missing last week’s game with an ankle injury, Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil has yet to practice this week, but he and the team are optimistic that he’ll will be ready to go Monday against the Detroit Lions.
Dumervil injured his ankle against the Steelers on Thanksgiving night, finished out that game, but was sidelined the following week, as BaltimoreRavens.com staff writer Garrett Downing reports.
In his first season with the Ravens, Dumervil has been one of the stars on defense. His 9.5 sacks currently lead the team. With Dumervil and All-Pro Terrell Suggs as the main components of the Ravens pass rush, the two will need to step up Monday Night against a Lions team that is also fighting for a playoff spot.
Traditionally, Joe Flacco has struggled on the road in the regular season, so it will be up to Dumervil, Suggs and the rest of the defense to pick up the slack if the offense stalls. The Lions are among the most dangerous offenses when playing at home, and the Ravens are at the point in their season where every game is a must-win.
