Kenny Vaccaro Out For Year With Fractured Ankle

New Orleans Saints rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro will be out for the remainder of the season with a fractured ankle. He will not be able to participate in the playoffs and will undergo surgery on Tuesday. Sean Payton called the injury a “clean break”, so that he would be able to heal quickly and should be ready for training camp in 2014.

Vaccaro was a big part of the Saints defense, finishing with 79 tackles, one sack and one interception. He started 14 games for the Saints and was an impact player for the team playing at the free safety position and at the slot corner. The Saints will miss his presence on the defense during the playoffs.

The Saints have been on a bit of a slide already going into the playoffs and missing one of their impact players on the defensive side will make things even more difficult in the first round of the playoffs.
