Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III hasn’t had one of his finest years, but he found a way to put a brighter spin on things and completely embraced the holiday cheer by being his offensive line’s Santa. A video on the Redskins official site shows RG3 giving an XBox One console to each of the starting offensive linemen on the Redskins as a “Thank You” for their hard work this season. Even though the line has drawn the ire of some members of the fan base, RG3 is only 27th in the league when it comes to the percentage of times he’s been sacked; that’s a stat to keep in mind.
The Redskins offensive line definitely deserves the gifts and nod of respect, and it’s great to see RG3 do such a kind thing; maybe this can get some more people to get off of his back as a so-called “selfish” player.
When it comes to pass protection, the Redskins offensive line has definitely been solid. There is little doubt that Trent Williams is one of the game’s best left tackles, and right tackle Tyler Polumbus has quietly put together a very strong year. He’s not a big name at all and qualifies as a journeyman kind of player, but I think he has found a home in Washington. At least, he deserves to stick around in D.C., and he definitely earned that nice Christmas gift from his quarterback.
Will Montgomery hasn’t had the best year of his career, but he’s still solid. Kory Lichtensteiger is one of the tougher offensive linemen in the league, and he is a steady performer on the line. The lone “weak link” is Chris Chester, but there are far worse players than the veteran right guard, who really only struggled at the beginning of the year; he’s come on strong over the past five games.
