Rod Marinelli Rumored To Be Next Buccaneers Defensive Coordinator

ESPN NFC North Blogger is hearing that the Buccaneers will be bringing on Rod Marinelli to be the defensive coordinator in Tampa Bay. Lovie Smith was just brought on as the head coach and Leslie Frazier’s name had been tossed around as the potential defensive coordinator, but Marinelli’s name is now surfacing.

Marinelli is the defensive line coach with the Dallas Cowboys and had been a part of Lovie’s staff in Chicago since 2009. After Lovie was released, he signed on with the Dallas Cowboys to become their defensive line coach and now it seems that he is rejoining Smith in Tampa. Seems to be a move that makes sense.

What is happening with Leslie Frazier now? Frazier still could be brought onto the staff, but at a different capacity.

The Tampa Bay coaching staff is starting to take shape. It should be fun to see how Smith runs this defense. With players like Darrelle Revis, Lavonte David, Mark Barron and Dashon Goldston running around, they have the ability to become a dominant unit.  Look out NFC South.
