The Miami Dolphins and general manager Jeff Ireland have agreed to part ways. Ireland was on the hot seat for failing to reach the playoffs again and after a late season collapse from the team.
Owner Steven Ross shared this thought on the situation:
“After a series of discussions, we both felt that it was in our mutual best interest to part ways.”
Ross wanted to make sure he got the sting of losing out before he made any rash decisions, but now it seems that the team and Ireland would like to move in different directions.
The Dolphins have now dropped the axe on Ireland and Mike Sherman in the last week. I wonder if the new general manager in town will think about head coach Joe Philbin. There could be a new job vacancy there coming soon also. Let the search begin for a new general manager.
