Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice plans on playing at a lighter weight next season. He plans on shedding some pounds and hopes to gain back some of his elusiveness and burst that he was missing this season. He didn’t gain much from the added weight and his production dropped off a cliff this season.
“I think he learned that adding 10 pounds to his frame made him less elusive, not more powerful,” owner Steve Bisciotti said.
This year, Rice gained 660 yards and averaged 3.1 yards per carry. He was dropped into a running back by committee role. His production was disappointing.
Dropping the pounds should get him back to par. He had to deal with some minor injuries this year also, but his production still fell off the map. His burst and his ability to break free in the open field is what makes him one of the top backs in the game. He needs to regain that form or he might just disappear off the planet.
