The search for the head man in Cleveland has finally come to an end. The Cleveland Browns hired now former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator, Mike Pettine to be their next head coach.
It is no secret that over the past decade that Cleveland has swallowed up some real good football minds. With just one winning season since 2003, the Browns have been the laughing stock of the league.
Despite their dismal records over the years, this team has remained quite competitive. Pettine might come into the best situation in Cleveland in quite some years. He is a defensive minded coach and this team already has some nice young faces on that side of the ball. They also have two first round draft picks this season and some money to spend in free agency.
In his five seasons as the defensive coordinator in Buffalo, Pettine has had his defense ranked in the top ten. So, defensively, this looks like a good hire for Cleveland. If they can grab a top quarterback and land a running back either in free agency or late in the draft, this team could find a way to sneak into the playoffs.
