The Dallas Cowboys are hiring former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to call plays on offense, per Ian Rapoport. The Cowboys still have Offensive Coordinator Bill Callahan on staff and it should create an interesting dynamic. Not sure what title they are going to give Scott Linehan.
Will Bill Callahan even be part of the coaching staff at the start of the year? He is under contract for another season, but it looks like the Cowboys are getting ready for a transition.
Linehan will have some talent to work with on the Cowboys offense. DeMarco Murray is a Pro Bowl level running back, Dez Bryant is a Pro Bowl level wide receiver and Jason Witten is a Pro Bowl level tight end. Tony Romo can sling it all over the field. Linehan will have plenty of options to work with on offense. He will have to get the offense to reach it’s potential.
Jerry Jones will expect results immediately. He will expect the team to move the football down the field and put up a lot of points. Otherwise, there will be someone new calling plays… AGAIN.
