Greg Hardy Receives Franchise Tag From Panthers

The Carolina Panthers did not want to risk losing Greg Hardy to free agency so they have placed the franchise tag on him.

This will allow the two sides to negotiate more in order to agree on a long-term deal or Hardy can just take the one year under the franchise tag and play it out and hope to become a free agent again at the end of the year.

Either way, Hardy will be working with the Panthers for another season. Hardy finished the year with 15 sacks and would have been one of the top defensive players entering free agency. The Panthers couldn’t allow him to get out and test those waters.

The Panthers were one of the best defensive squads in the league and a lot of credit has to go toward Hardy and his ability to get after the quarterback. You just can’t let that type of player walk.
