Alterraun Verner Unlikely To Get Franchise Tag

The Tennessee Titans are looking to lock in Alterraun Verner to a long-term deal, but they plan on doing their negotiations without the use of the franchise tag (The Tennessean). The team already is paying top dollar on Jason McCourty and they do not want to go into the season with two corners killing the salary cap. If they plan on signing Verner though, that is what is going to happen.

Verner is one of the top corners available in free agency and if he were to make it into the open market, there will be a number of teams bidding for his services. If the Titans want to get him locked up, they better act fast.

Brent Grimes signed his deal today for 4 years and $32 million. Verner is younger and could get a bigger deal in the open market.

I am sure there are a number of teams that are waiting to make that offer out to Verner (if they haven’t done it yet already).

Where will Verner end up this offseason?
