The San Francisco 49ers are going to release Carlos Rogers and allow him to test free agency, per Josina Anderson. The 49ers were looking to free up some room on the roster and he had a $5.25 million salary that was due to him in the coming year.
Rogers started 16 games for the 49ers in 2013 and finished the season with a pair of interceptions. He will be added to the free agency mix with Alterraun Verner and Aqib Talib. There are also a number of good corners that will be entering the NFL Draft.
Rogers could capitalize on the market that has been set in free agency from Sam Shields. Shields is making close to $10 million per season with the new deal that he signed with the Packers. The price tags in the corner market have been rising and Rogers could get some good money in the free agency market this offseason.
Expect Rogers to get some interest from teams in free agency. Where will Rogers end up?
