Carolina Panthers Looking to Trade Steve Smith

The Carolina Panthers are attempting to trade Steve Smith, per Ian Rapoport. Smith is owed $7 million this season though and that will make it difficult for the team to find a potential suitor for the veteran wide receiver.

Smith is one of the better wide receivers in the game, but will not have that many more years in the league. He is one of the most feisty competitors at the position and could be an upgrade at receiver for a number of teams in the league, but he is not going to get much interest for that asking price.

The Panthers can’t expect to get much in return for Smith, if they get any offers. What will that leave the team with after that? Will they have to release him off of the roster? Will they make that move?

Smith is one of the faces of the franchise and it would be weird to see him on a different roster.
