The Chicago Bears are calling around the league to see the interest of teams on Julius Peppers, per Adam Schefter. They are looking to trade the veteran off of the roster, but the interest level may not be there. If the team does not get any interest for the veteran, then we could see Peppers as a possible release.
Peppers is due over $18 million this coming season and the team would save over $9 million id he were to be released off of the roster.
Peppers is 34 years old and finished the season with 7 sacks. He has a couple of seasons left on his deal, but the team might be looking to shed his contract this season and use the freed up money to add other free agents onto the defensive side of the ball.
The Bears are shopping him around, but finding someone who wants to take on his contract seems unlikely.
