Santonio Holmes Released By New York Jets

The New York Jets have made it official today and have released Santonio Holmes off of the roster, per Ian Rapoport. This was not a surprise at all, especially with the cap hit of $10.75 million that he was going to have.

Holmes had a quick fall from grace with the New York Jets. Holmes could still be a talented wide receiver, but he didn’t have much success with the Jets. The Jets are in need of a wide receiver this offseason and Holmes and his huge contract did not fit the team.

Holmes will be looking for a new home, or he could go back to an old home with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers will be looking for some help at wide receiver this offseason and he could fit in with them. Don’t expect Holmes to get the crazy money that the Jets threw at him though. He will come at a much cheaper price this time around.
