Julius Peppers released by Chicago Bears

With the NFL free agency period officially underway, veterans from across the league are being cut and shopped. Earlier today, it was reported that the Bears had been shopping Julius Peppers around the league. With no teams taking the bait, Peppers, an 8-time Pro Bowler, was officially cut by the Chicago Bears today.

I’m not sure what kind of interest Peppers will garner on the open market, but it seems highly likely that the veteran defensive end will sign with a contender.

He needs to come to Dallas Cowboys along with Melton to get back together with their old DC.

Not Tampa? He could start opposite of Johnson, be on the same line as McCoy and would be back with his old coach, Lovie. It’s far fetched because the Bucs don’t have cap space and 4-12 isn’t a record contenders have but it makes some sense. He could go to Miami and push their defense over the edge and help them get into the playoffs and they have money to lure him there as well.
