Lamarr Houston Headed to Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears were unable to land Michael Bennett in free agency, so they went in a different direction and signed Lamarr Houston as soon as free agency opened up. Houston and the Bears have agreed on a 5-year deal, per Ian Rapoport.

The Bears were looking for some help on the defensive line and they landed one of the best defensive linemen available in free agency. Houston will start on the defensive line for the Bears and will hope to upgrade their defense.

The Bears are shopping Julius Peppers at the moment and they may release him off of the roster. If they release Peppers, they would be able to get some relief under the cap and make some other moves in free agency. The signing of Houston may be the reason why they were shopping Peppers on the market.

Houston finished with 6 sacks last season with the Oakland Raiders. He will be looking to produce for the Chicago Bears for the next few years.
