If the Houston Texans decided to pass on Jadeveon Clowney in the first round, the Jacksonville Jaguars could use their selection with the 3rd pick to take the phenom out of South Carolina. Clowney would have to make the Texans pay twice per season for their mistake and he says the he would plan on making them miserable per Tania Ganguli.
Clowney seems to be the top athlete in this draft and should be the top player in the draft, but the Texans needs at the quarterback position are glaring and the team needs to find someone to throw the football around on offense. Matt Schaub is no longer in town and the roster is full of backup players at the position. Do the Texans take a quarterback and fill that need or go with the best player available and make their defense frightening?
The thought of having J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney getting after quarterbacks would be frightening. Clowney is a once in a decade type athlete and the expectations for him are out of this world. The Texans can fill the hole at quarterback in the following round. Taking Clowney with the first pick makes a ton of sense and if the team doesn’t do it, they risk playing against him twice per season.
