The Chicago Bears have brought in QB Josh Freeman for a visit according to Jason LaCanfora. Mark Trestman really wants to test out this “Quarterback Whisperer” label that has been placed on him.

Freeman is a better option at the back-up spot than anyone else that the team has on the roster. He has experience starting and has some potential to grow. Freeman will come with some baggage though. Do the Bears want to deal with that?

There are not many options available in free agency to back-up Jay Cutler right now. With Josh McCown out in Tampa Bay, the Bears have Jordan Palmer as their best option behind Jay at the moment.

Freeman was released last season by the Buccaneers after starting in 3 games. He was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings and was only able to start one game for them before he was placed on the bench again. He has a lot of work to do, but he could have a good opportunity sitting behind Cutler and learning from Trestman. If he does have to get into the game, the Bears have a much better offensive cast than his previous teams.
