The Minnesota Vikings will be meeting with LSU QB Zach Mettenberger during his Pro Day and the team plans on working him out individually according to ESPN. Mettenberger has one of the strongest arms in the draft class, but he went down in the middle of last season with an ACL injury. That injury likely will keep him from getting drafted in the first round, which could make him available for the Vikings to select with the 40th overall selection in the draft.

Mettenberger will have to show that he is recovered from his injury during the Pro Day and will also have to address some character concerns. He pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery before he came over to LSU.

The Vikings need to find a quarterback for their future, but they don’t necessarily want to use their first round draft pick to get their guy. That first round selection can be used to build up the defense of the team and if Mettenberger proves to be a good possibility in the following round. The Vikings will do their homework on him to see if he is the right fit.
