The Carolina Panthers have exercised their fifth-year option on QB Cam Newton and he will now be under contract until 2015, per Albert Breer. The team will be looking at extending his deal past the 2015 season though.
Newton was able to lead his team into the playoffs last season and he will be looking to get them into that spot again with a new cast on offense. He will have a whole new group of receivers that he will have to adjust with and hopefully they will be able to get on the same page quickly. He still has a good group of running backs to get the football to though.
Newton is a playmaker and he will find ways to move the offense down the field. He will buy some time to throw the football with his legs and he will also pick up first downs and touchdowns by running the football. The offense will have a whole new group of receivers, but Newton will find a way to move the ball. If Newton proves that he can still make this offense click with a whole new cast and crew, he should be seeing a nice payday coming up.
