There were rumors that the Detroit Lions were trying to trade Ndamukong Suh, but Jason LaCanfora is reporting that the team is just looking to re-sign him and there is no trade on the horizon. This story makes a lot more sense over the possible trade of Suh. Also, Suh’s absence from camp has nothing to do with the contract negotiations.

The Lions might want to move up in the NFL Draft, but moving Suh to make that move makes no sense. The team needs to build around the talent that they have on their roster and not ship off their players. Suh’s contract is up after the 2015 season and the team would love to keep him on the roster for a few more years. He will be one of the best players available if he were to hit free agency and it would be best to lock him up before a potential bidding war.
The Lions are looking to lock him in to a long term deal so that he can be anchoring that defense for years to come and killing Jay Cutler over and over again. Lions fans can exhale again and know that Suh will be part of the roster… pretty sure most of you weren’t holding your breath anyway.
