Seahawks hire Ex-GM Ireland as draft consultant

The Seattle Seahawks are brining in former Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland as a draft consultant to General Manager John Schneider, according to CBSSports.com. This report is on the heels of the surprising resignation of the Seahawks senior personnel executive Scot McCloughan. McCloughan has been Schneider’s head draft consultant the past 4 years, helping the team bring in players like: Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, and Bruce Irvin.

Ireland and Schneider have history together dating back to the late 90′s when they both worked for the Kansas City Chiefs. Ireland has been out of a job since January when he and the Dolphins decided to part ways. Ireland’s job with Seattle seems to be a temporary one, but the team said that it could potentially become a full time job after the draft.

Some of the names Ireland helped the Dolphins bring in are cornerback Vontae Davis, center Mike Pouncey and quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
