Seahawks Zeroing In On Richard Sherman Deal

The Seattle Seahawks just locked in S Earl Thomas to the highest contract for a safety and could soon be locking up Richard Sherman to the highest contract for a corner in the league, per Jason LaCanfora. The Seahawks are taking advantage of the window they have with Russell Wilson playing under his rookie contract and paying the other players on the roster to keep them around. Once Wilson has to start taking up a big chunk in that salary cap, then the team could start losing some of these players.

Thomas will be in the secondary for the next 4 years and the team is looking to lock up Sherman to be joining him for that time. Sherman has been the top corner in the game and should be getting paid like it soon.

Sherman has been in the league for 3 seasons and is just 26 years old. He has a long future ahead and the Seahawks will be looking to keep that future in Seattle. Keeping both Thomas and Sherman in that secondary will keep that defense elite for a long time.

Thomas S, DE Michael Bennett, K Steven Hauschka, QB Tarvaris Jackson, DT Tony McDaniel, TE Zach Miller, McCoy, Rice WR ……..Sherman CB should be done next week…pretty good off season…in house style…Still think Mathews from CFL will be another low risk high gain deal for Seattle at WR…..I see Seattle putting a core in place and training up young players from the draft…or in many case undrafted…and coaching them up to replace players they can’t afford to keep…that style has kept New England competitive for years…even during the era of high priced free agency contracts…That formula built the organization under Carol and Schneider in the first place……players like Wilson, Sherman, Chancellor (extended last year) Smith, Wagner, Wright, Turbin, Maxwell, Mebane, Sweezy, Coleman made an impact early and at a low price…. I think we will be adding Bowie (7th), Bailey (UFA) and Willson (5th) to that list….this year will tell us more about, Scruggs Simon, Hill, Williams, Shead, Mayowa, Irvin, Toomer and Ware…I din’t see us losing anyone this year in free agency that wasn’t already replaced…and continued depth from the practice squad and 2nd string…Seattle may also have 11 draft picks next year due to free agency losses this year and picks lost to trades complete…this is a fun organization to watch…in all aspects…
