Former Green Bay Packers star tight end Jermichael Finley suffered an incredibly scary neck injury that could have ended his career, but he is trying as hard as possible to get healthy again and get back on track. Finley look dead set to sign on with the Seattle Seahawks in what would have been a low-risk, high-reward move for the defending Super Bowl champions to take a flier on Finley’s recovery. After all, an uber-athletic, versatile TE would give the Seahawks offense a whole new dimension, but Finely unfortunately failed his physical.

Finley reportedly underwent an X-Ray on Monday, and now the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that he is expected to undergo more tests on his neck soon, but that we won’t know the results for a “few days” since the tests have to be sent to Pittsburgh. It shouldn’t take much longer for Finely to receive clearance after failing his physical with the Seahawks about a month ago, but it will be interesting to see if the ‘Hawks, who could still use a TE, still have interest in the talented 27-year-old.

Once he’s cleared, Finley should receive interest from a number of teams due to his talent and past production, and the Miami Dolphins have consistently shown interest in adding him as a TE2 behind Charles Clay. They can afford to take a gamble on Finley’s health with Clay on the roster, so we’ll see if those talks amount into a contract. But first, everyone will have to wait for the test results and medical clearance.
